An opportunity to learn a completely organic, traditional indigo vat dyeing recipe; create alluring organic indigo dyed textiles for your home or wardrobe; and experiment with Japanese Shibori fold + clamp tie-dyeing techniques.

In the class you will learn how to make a simple and quick indigo vat and be able to repeat the process again with confidence by yourself. You will learn how to recognize when the vat is ready to use, and dye your own items to create beautiful blue hues. There will be creative time to experiment with the process and learn how to dye with indigo for yourself. you will get to dye a length of organic British silk, which is provided and included in the cost. And if you wish to bring along something of your own to dye with, we simply ask that you let us know well in advance, so we can prepare a vat with enough indigo in it for your needs.

You will take away a beautiful indigo shibori dyed length of organic British silk and the confidence and skills to repeat the process again.

Notes: Tea and coffee will be provided. You may wish to bring extra snacks. Wear clothes which you can get messy.

If you have any additional small items which you wish to bring for dyeing, please let us know the type of textile and weight in advance, so that we may prepare a vat able to accommodate your needs. Please note that this will require an additional advance payment, calculated by the weight.
