Bundle-Dyeing With Moat Farm Flowers, Suffolk

  • Moat Farm Flowers Moat Farm, Dennington, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP13 8BZ (map)

Enjoy a day of harvesting flowers from Moat Farm and botanical textile dyeing with Botanical Inks, using fresh flowers, to imprint cloth with contemporary kaleidoscopic patterns, using the bundle-dye technique and a beautiful organic British-grown haboutai silk, infused with herbal essences. You may use your unique natural dye printed silk for making a scarf, cushion cover, ribbons, clothing or other creative project.

Bundle dyeing is an innovative process which by-passes the need for the dye pot, allowing for the direct transfer of plant dyes and their healing herbal qualities into cloth. Using intuitive herbalism, we will make healing textiles aligned with each individual’s needs. Using plant vinegars, steam and a variety of simple fold and bind techniques, a range of patterns can be achieved.

Along with gaining a new skill which you can repeat again and again for yourself, you will learn about intuitive herbalism, plant symbolism, natural dyeing, responsible foraging for local dyes and mordants, ceremonial textiles, and you will take away with you a beautifully natural dye printed silk cloth.

A lunch will be provided by Moat Farm Flowers and is included in the cost, along with all materials and a 50 x 140cm piece of organic British grown haboutai silk.

Notes: There will be additional meterage of the silk available for extra purchases in class.

Ticket price: £110 per person, including lunch and a length of organic British grown silk.
